Interview with Vlad Lioncourt

Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
I do. It was a very brief scene to illustrate my perception of the difference between vanilla and something a little spicier (which I called Cardamom).
What is your writing process?
The overall storyline is written in my mind prior to typing a word. I have found it changes drastically once I get into it.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
Yikes! That was ages ago. Probably a "Hardy Boys" mystery. I loved how it took my imagination into the action.
How do you approach cover design?
I picked out a suggestive scene from the book and hired a profession (Kristina Matury). That stuff is too important to leave in the hands of an amateur.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
1. "Unbroken" by Laura Hillenbrand. A incredible testament to the triumph of one's mans spirit against all odds. Stunning.
2. The Bourne Trilogy by Robert Ludlum. Almost unrelated to the movies, the stories were mesmerizing.
3. The Conqueror Series by Conn Iggulden. Couldn't put them down.
4. The Emperor Series by Conn Iggulden.
5. "The Happy Hooker" and "Xaviera", by Xaviera Hollander. Probably not great by today's standards, but I read them as a very young man, and they had impact. They were my first exposure to the idea that human sexuality covers a massive spectrum, and encompasses all kinds of desires and needs. The goodness in a person's heart is not represented by what is now more commonly referred to as their "kink".
When did you first start writing?
Two years ago, as a form of release.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Dawn. Coffee. A sore back.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Planning a trip, or taking one. I am a travel addict.
Who are your favorite authors?
Robert Ludlum, Lee Child, Dan Brown, George R.R. Martin, David Baldacci. Recently discovered the hot erotica of I.M. Telling.
Published 2015-01-26.
