Interview with Dr. Bobbi Anne White

What are you working on next?
I am presently writing a new book called "Rapture". It is also, like my previous, and my first, book about astrology. It came about because I kept hearing about the date, September 23, 2017, as being the next "Rapture". I did some investigation and the results are very revealing about worldly, planetary, events. The ancient Hindu astrologers and mathematicians had calculated so many things about the Universe, even prior to satellites and NASA. Yes, things have been updated by the advanced telescopes and so forth, but the results are very similar to what was calculated in the 3rd and 4th centuries BC.
In my new book, I wanted to show the correlation between the Biblical scholars and the Vedic Scriptures, and, especially on present day events that are happening in the present day.
Who are your favorite authors?
Since I became interested in astrology, I very much rely on B.V. Raman's writings. Of course, I am steeped in the writings of A.C.Bhakitvedanta Swami Prabhupada, who gave the authoritative English translation of the Bhagavad-Gita. I also like to visit the blog of Sam Geppi However, I do like to read spy novels, Tom Clancy and I also like to listen to the author of Tom Clancy, who happens to be Dr. Steve Pieczenik, who has his own website,
He is an astute observer of human nature. I am also very political and listen to the the author and film-maker, Dinesh D'Souza, and spend a ot of time listening to Scott Raymond Adams on youtube, who happens to be the author of the comic strip, Dilbert.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
I live with my grandchildren and their mother, my daughter, teaches kindergarten. so, I am responsible for cooking and getting the kids off to school each day. I would have to say that I am very active, at 72 years of age, and interested in the politics of the day. And, that would have to be the Presidency of Donald J. Trump. So, I am inspired to correlate the activities of today with the Ancient Wisdom of the Hindu Sages and astrologers. It seems that they were, perhaps, even demigods who had the capability of understanding the movement of the planets, even without all the sophisticated technology and NASA hardware of the present day. But, perhaps, that is a debatable point.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
After my midlife crisis, when I became homeless, I joined the Hare Krsna Movement. Unfortunately for me this was after the demise of the founder's passing (A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada). Fortunately, for me, his god-brother, Srila Bhakti Raksaka Srila Sridhara Maharaj was still on the planet, and I was able to take initiation from him shortly before he also left the planet.
So, by the grace of Krishna, I went back to North Miami and opened a Hare Krsna temple, after having visited and served in so many temples around the world, As part of my education and seva (devotional service) I was asked to cook. That became a favorite past time for me and still is.
So, that is how I spend my day: getting my two grandchildren, Jasmine and Julian, off to school for the day, and then cooking for the family in the afternoon. In the morning, I may be researching and writing my book.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Usually I become interested in a particular author during my research into astrology, history, or politics. so, if he/she has a book, whether it be hard back or e-book, I will find it.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Actually, I started writing blogs and learning code in the early 21st century. At that time, it was necessary to purchase your own domain and learn your own coding. I believe I was able to learn coding from, as they had a section there to assist in that endeavor.
Recently, however, it is no longer necessary to know coding, as there are many sites, like, where one can easily start their own website. I can remember that I wrote some poetry and had different "monetized" blogs, but when the PC Police found out I was a conservative, they deleted my account. LOL. I also, BTW, have a youtube channel for my astrological analysis (vedicastrol).
What is your writing process?
Process? Meaning how do I become inspired? I would say that dreaming at night is very important in that process, as it requires that I may have to analyze present day "happenings" with the ancient, mathematical, astrological paradigms. For example, in the present day "news" we may all be observing certain characters and occurrences and become shocked, dismayed, depressed, or contrarily, inspired, thrilled, excited, about the present day occurrences.
Little do we know, that by analyzing the astrological profiles of certain "players", we may, in fact, be observing ancient actors, who have re-incarnated. And, that is what I hope to illustrate.
How do you approach cover design?
I guess I am very family oriented, and a doting grandmother. So, I like to use family pictures for my covers. It's very personal, as, I believe that astrology is a way of guiding not only ourselves, but others as well, who may be confronted by so many daunting challenges.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
Bhagavad-Gita by Swami A.C. Bhaktivedanta swami Prabhupada
Guardians of Devotion by Srila Bhakt Raksaka Sridhar Maharaj
What do you read for pleasure?
Internet blogs are my daily reading:
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
I'm not successful there, so I guess I will have to rely, as I usually do on Divine Providence, otherwise known as destiny.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
i grew up in the suburb of Boston. I was born at the end of WWII in Richmond, Va, where my father was stationed in the US Navy. We then travelled back to Massachusetts where we lived with my maternal grandfather Hugh McLean, in his beautiful home on Ashcroft Rd, Medford, Ma. After a few short years, my parents were able to buy their own delightful home about a mile away, were we had a delightful backyard, which was great during the summer with its own swing, and about a mile away from a big forest (Middlesex Fells Reservation) en.m.wikipedia.corg/wiki/Middlesex_Fells_Reservation) and a tall, old, ancient Observation Tower on a big hill in the forest. We would go to the forest there and play in the Observation Tower, and in the winter, skate on the lovely Spot Pond. Of course, during the cold winters we would sled down the hills in front of our house, at 76 Westwood Rd. build snow houses and earn a little money shoveling people's sidewalks. We would also earn a little money in the summer by gathering blueberries in the forest and selling them to our neighbors. We would also design potholders and sell them too. We lived a middle class life, Dad was a firefighter and Mom was a SAHM. At a young age, I started to walk to the early Mass ceremony at the Church attached to my school at St Francis of Assisi Parish. After the Mass, I would walk home for breakfast and then return to the St Francis grammar School.
Since I was an "A" student, and President of my class in grammar school, I was given a scholarship to attend North Cambridge Catholic High School. We had since moved a few miles away to a bigger house Oat 16 Oak St in Medford, since our Family had increased to now include 8 children. So we were now on a very high hill and I would need to walk up and down that hill and take at least two buses to reach my High School, which was located several miles away in Cambridge. There I had the Dominican Nuns teaching me and I became a Latin Scholar and President of my class again. However, I was displeased by the abusive scoldings of one teacher towards a fellow classmate, and decided to attend Medford High School for my Junior and Senior years. That decision probably had a big affect on where I would later attend college. I was the first in my Family to finish college, since my older brother, David who had started at Northeastern University, had been drafted into the US Army. He went away was trained up to become a spy and went to Monterrey, California, where he learned to speak, I believe, Russian.
After finishing High School, and doing very well on my SAT's, I received a full scholarship to the University of Massachussets, and ended up being a Philosophy Major there.
When did you first start writing?
At St Francis of Assisi Grammar School, we always had assignments writing, and, as a top student, the Nuns always asked me to read my essays. Of course, we always had assignments writing at the University. However, it wasn't until later in life after becoming a devotee of Krishna, that I became interested in writing my astrological observations. I believe that
astrology can interpret historical events in a unique way.
What's the story behind your latest book?
Well, during the US Presidential elections, many spiritual groups in India became convinced of the necessity of a Trump Presidency and prayed for his election. Many pastors cited the Old Testament and different sources in Revelations as a basis for the "Second Coming of Christ." Having researched Hindu Scriptures and astrology, and being somewhat of a sidereal astrologer myself, I started to see some of the present day events in that context, and that is the subject of my new book, "Rapture".
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
I'm not successful in the worldly sense. However, after writing my first book, "Axis of Interplanetary Vibrations: Clinical Studies in Medical Astrology", and getting rejected by several "Old School" publishing companies, I was happy to find
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Most people will look at me and see a failed life. I received a DMD in 1975 and, now, in retrospect, even though I performed really well on my Dental Aptitude tests, I realize that, most likely, I was an "affirmative action: candidate". In fact, I went to my Dental School interview when I was about 8 months pregnant with my second child. I don't think anyone thought I would graduate. But I did. Later, after my first abusive husband left me, (It wasn't a crime then), I went into the US Army as a dentist, but was deprived of my children by the same ex-husband. As a Mother, that created difficulties and depression. So, there was very little recognition of Domestic Violence at the time. In fact even the female Judge in my divorce case granted custody to the abusive ex-husband!
So, in this kind of emotional quagmire, I took up a spiritual life and I thank Krishna and my loving Gurus for that. Later, becoming homeless and penniless, I embarked on a spiritual life, then became interested in Astrology to understand Why?
