Interview with Velton Showell III

When did you first start writing?
I started writing at a very young age. I used my quiet time to imagine things that I wanted to experience and how I would feel when I did. I also wrote about experiences and the things I learned from them. I tried my hand at poetry too, but it was not exactly my strongest gift.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Camden, NJ to a family of hardworking people who understood the value of a good education and the need to have the ability to communicate your thoughts and ideas both verbally and in writing. My Mother and Great Grandfather influenced my writing and encouraged me to express my thoughts and ideas.
What's the story behind your latest book?
My latest eBook, "Strategic Planning... Planning to WIN!" is a step by step guide that helps Entrepreneurs and Small Business owners develop a Strategic Plan. It takes them through the process of developing a vision, to understanding their Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats, and looking at all the variables that have a direct and indirect impact on your company or business. The Strategic Plan is essential to the success of any business. It's your road map... "If you don't have one, getting lost in the daily maze of business becomes that much easier.
My first book, "Prospecting the Key to Your Future Success" is a book that shares the secrets that I have learned in my 30 years as a Sales Professional. The secrets to acquiring new customers by eliminating the need to do cold calls and successfully navigating the waters of soliciting business. As a sales person our main focus is growing the sales funnel and increasing our business pipeline. Through my book I give the reader tips, strategies, and tactics that have worked for me and made my sales career very successful.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I have spent years as a coach, mentor and trainer in various positions. I enjoy helping others achieve success and growth. By writing I can reach a wider range of people and share the gifts and knowledge that have been shared with me.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
Smashwords allows me to share information with a wider audience at a much more affordable price. The most important gift that anyone can share is knowledge.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Sharing information and watching it all come together and when possible hearing that the information I have shared has made someone elses journey easier or more successful.
What do your fans mean to you?
Fans mean that I have touched someone and contributed to their success. I have helped someone get closer to or reach their goals!
What are you working on next?
I am writing my next book entitled "The Transformation Zone" I want to continue to help my audience growth and reach their dreams and ultimate level of success. No long will we settle for being good, we strive for great and excellence is our mantra.

Reading, speaking publicly, training, inspiring, mentoring and motivating others. I also enjoy playing golf and refereeing soccer matches.
