Interview with Gilli Moon

How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
it has allowed me to release my book in all formats, independently, and control every aspect of it.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
I love writing something that inspires people. When I get a comment or a letter that something i've written changes or inspires them, I know i am doing my life's purpose.
What do your fans mean to you?
I believe in community. I believe we need our readers, to be authors. It's a two way street. I like it to be interactive. I need an audience. Without that, there's no reason to write.
What are you working on next?
My next book is about Hit Songs. I also want to write a book for mothers struggling to get pregnant, as well as mothers needing to find themselves in the first year of delivering a baby.
Who are your favorite authors?
Wayne Dyer, Kahlil Gibran, Paolo Coelho, Don Miguel Ruiz. Basically anyone who writes to inspire. I do like a good fiction book though, like from Dan Brown or Robert Ludlum
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
My children, my husband, my art
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
With my family.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Usually word of mouth. I like to be recommended.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
It was a short story about living in the country, ... my childhood.
What is your writing process?
Mornings are best. But as long as i can get a guaranteed hour, I can write. That's hard these days what with toddler twins!
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
I don't really. I have been reading since as far as I can remember. We always had a lot of books in the house. Oh, I do recall reading the entire series of Agatha Christie when I was around 14.
How do you approach cover design?

What's the story behind your latest book?
how to identify the secret sauce in the hit songs out there right now, and how to write one of your own
What motivated you to become an indie author?
i didn't want to wait around for someone else to make it happen for me. so i am just doing it however i can. plus all these middlemen just want a big %. not fair.
