Interview with Warren Bull

What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
My family and friends plus the chance to make a difference in the world.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
From reviews and recommendations from friends. Also if I have read an author and I like his or her work I am likely to look for another book.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
I don't remember the exact story but I do remember the magic I felt when the words formed images in my mind.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
Only five? Off the cuff I would say Lincoln at Gettysburg by Gary Wills, Letter from Home by Carolyn Hart, Winter's Bone by Daniel Woodrell, A Free man of Color by Barbara Hambly and Collected Works of Abraham Lincoln.
What do you read for pleasure?
All genres if they are well-written.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
A kindle.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Word of mouth and hand selling by bookstore employees.
Describe your desk
It is a board supported by two book shelves. It has to be at least twenty year old. The top holds a computer, a printer, a television set and assorted books and papers.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Rock Island, Illinois. It is on the banks of the Mississippi River. I lived close to the railroad tracks to hear the whistle of trains late at night. I wondered who was on the train and where they were going. Although I did not know it as a child, the city was the sight of a trial involving Abraham Lincoln.
When did you first start writing?
I do not remember ever not writing.
