Interview with William Greely

What are you working on next?
I am writing a sequel to “A Story of A Blind Man”
Who are your favorite authors?
John Steinbeck, James Patterson, Stewart Woods to name a few. I love any author that writes a book that makes you read like you can’t put the damn thing down!
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Breakfast!
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I read a lot; I like to go out to eat lunch or dinner with my son. I am a blues guitar player and I am in the process of putting a blues band together that takes up a lot of time.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
My state library has a service that I can download books onto a thumb drive and listen to them on a digital reading gizmo!
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
Yes, the first book I ever read was “Crazy Horse” when I was just a young whipper snapper. I loved the book and it made me wished I was an Indian.
What do you read for pleasure?
I read many kinds of books. I read murder and mystery, self-help books, music biographies. I have an eclectic taste in books.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
A digital reading device that the library of Congress supplied to me.
Describe your desk
My desk is a flat door that I had hooked up to the wall. It is supported on the right side with a small filing cabinet and on the left side a support pole. I have my monitor, fax machine, my printer, and my phone on top. Above the “desk” I have a couple of kitchen cabinets hooked onto the wall; it is a very nifty set up.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Yorktown Indiana way out in the country on the banks of the White River. It did not influence my writing in any way I was too busy playing Cowboy and Indians. I was always the Indian.
What's the story behind your latest book?
My book is about me being blind and how I handle being disabled.

My book “A Story of A Blind Man” is a story of what I had to go through to be a useful person with a disability. From 1998, the year I was blinded, by a drunk driver, to the present.
