Published 2015-11-10.
How do you approach cover design?
The cover to any book or manuscript must represent the content in a major format or minute one. It may also be abstract depending upon the targeted audience. A cover may also represent the author in its entirety.
What do you read for pleasure?
I enjoy a great deal of fiction. My passion is dragon tales and murder mystery. The first series of books I read in their entirety was the Tolken series of Lord of the Rings. Had my attention through all the books.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I enjoy e reading on my I pad. It gives the feel of an electronic book.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Urbanized environments where gangs and drugs were a common way of life. My mother raised two kids working 2 or 3 jobs at times, which allowed for more time in the streets for me and my sister.
When did you first start writing?
I first started writing in 1996 in my psychology class. I wrote a paper titled "Incarcerated Stress". My psychology professor Dr. Al Cook published it in the university paper and it made me feel good that others would read my words.
What's the story behind your latest book?
This recent publication is a training tool for professionals as well as those individuals that inhabit low income environments. The urban areas have a preset belief system that manipulates their rational when faced with challenging situations. Many individuals living in urbanized areas are not cognizant of these preset beliefs because they are accepted as normal behaviors within these urban areas. This manuscript gives an overview to urban psychotherapy and the Hood Mentality. This book answers the question to why so many urbanized individuals are angry at everyone not like them. My research has proven that these preset beliefs are justifications for negative behavior. In this book these negative behavior are addressed with safe and proven methods to redirect negative thought processes and ultimately behavior.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
Some times you have to show people that you are serious about your work. By doing so you don't have to wait on anyone or answer to any one.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
My greatest joy for this piece is knowing that some people will have the opportunity to grasp an understanding of the mental disorders and conditions of those living in urban environments. NEI negative environmental influences affect the way people perceive themselves in society and how they view others. Being exposed to negative environmental over a long period of time disconnects logic within the frontal lobe.
What do your fans mean to you?
To be honest I don't want fans because this wasn't written to gain popularity, it was written to inform.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
I have four beautiful children that I am responsible for. Their happiness brings me joy.
