Interview with Willow Aster

Published 2015-09-20.
What are you working on next?
I'm working on a book about a prostitute and a preacher's son...
Who are your favorite authors?
I love Madeleine L'Engle, JK Rowling, JoJo Moyes ... and so many others!
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Coffee. haha My family inspires me too. Reading inspires me sometimes more than writing ... but I love it when I dream a storyline and have to get up to write about it. Happens rarely, but it's awesome when it does.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Reading. Spending time with my family and friends. Thinking about writing...
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Mostly through word of mouth
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
I don't remember the stories I wrote as a kid, but I remember the first full-length book I wrote and never published!
What is your writing process?
I do best when I get after it in the mornings after my kids are at school. If I can write all day long, without distractions, I'm happiest and most productive. Those days are rare.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
No, but I do remember the first story that had the greatest impact. We read Where the Red Fern Grows at school and it devastated me.
How do you approach cover design?
I look at artwork I love to get ideas. I usually have some sort of vision in mind, but try to stay open-minded too.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I love my iPad mini!
