Interview with Winslet Press

When did you first start writing?
When I was a little girl. I used to write plays and spend my summers in the library. Around middle school I began writing short stories and it's evolved from there.
What's the story behind your latest book?
The latest book "Heart on a Shoestring" is about a guy and a girl who push each other to the limit. They both need to be broken in order to be put back together. And they both desire love, but they aren't ready yet. They need to put the past behind them and embrace something new, together, but he's hiding a dark past that makes him feel unworthy of a relationship.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
When readers "get" it. When they understand the heart behind the stories I write.
What are you working on next?
"Bloom" is the 5th book in The Unspoken Series. It's about a girl who shoves every negative feeling inside, afraid to burden others, and instead flashes a smile to the world. She's been severely burned and just released to continue healing at home. Her story is about true beauty and embracing the world around you with love and thanksgiving.
Who are your favorite authors?
Charles Martin is one I am astounded by.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes, oddly enough I used to write suspense stories. A bunch of teens flying off of theme park rides, etc. Very strange to be writing the complete opposite now, hahaha...
What is your writing process?
Idea.
Characters.
Title.
Climax.
Then, I write my way to the climax, which sometimes changes by the time I get to it.
