Interview with Mike Marlinski

When did you first start writing?
I've been writing creatively since the 2nd grade. My first major influence was R.L. Stine's "Goosebumps" series. It inspired me to write several short horror stories, but my love for science fiction and fantasy eventually took over completely.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I've been writing for many years and felt it was finally time to share my stories with potential new readers on the internet.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
Smashwords has served as a wonderful platform for my public works. It's extremely easy to use and provides a great selection of download formats for my readers.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Getting the characters and stories out of my head and on to the page is the best part for me. It gives me a great sense of relief and makes room for future projects.
What do your fans mean to you?
I don't exist without my readers. The people giving my writing the time of day mean everything to me.
What are you working on next?
I'm currently writing "For Siren"; the final installment of "The Drellic Saga".
Who are your favorite authors?
Stephen King, Orson Scott Card, Chuck Palahniuk, Timothy Zahn, Tolkien, Kurt Vonnegut, Bret Easton Ellis, and so many others...
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
My wife, my friends, my music and my writing!
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I enjoy playing guitar, recording music and spending time with my wife and friends.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Smashwords has been helpful since I discovered it, but Amazon is typically my go to source for e-books.
