Interview with Lydia RUSS

What do you read for pleasure?
Chick flicks, romantic stories.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
Describe your desk
My office has a large window looking out over the garden, it allows me to day dream and see my characters in my mind as I am writing. I work on the left of the desk, with reference materials to my right.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Glasgow, I had a great childhood, lots of children around all the time. My Mum was very closed when it came to matters of a sexual nature and even when the typical 80's dramas where on TV and there was 'kissing' scene, she would jump to her feet, "right girls its time to go and make the tea". I am sure this helped with my desire to create fantasies and day dream about erotic situations.
When did you first start writing?
I started writing about 10 years ago, jotting down ideas and notes about experiences and dreams in a note book. I would often go back to my stories and be amazed that I didn't exactly remember writing them and being excited by the stories and thought of writing my daydreams.
What's the story behind your latest book?
The story behind my latest book is about new beginnings, leaving the old life behind and making the most of a new job, new flat and new life. Exciting times ahead.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
I love the idea of self publishing and being able to express myself in various ways. Smashwords is liberating, allowing authors to write in their own style.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Being able to create a world from my dreams and fantasies, dropping in and out and it is all mine. Then knowing that others can find themselves transported into my world for a short time, it drives my passions and excitement.
What do your fans mean to you?
My fans are everything to me. They confirm that we all love to have day dreams and fantasies and live in a world even for just a little time.
What are you working on next?
I have a few stories in the pipeline, lots more sexy scenes and passionate encounters.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I love cooking and creating recipes. So if I am not at my desk, I will be in the kitchen cooking up a storm.
