Interview with Wendy Halloun

What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
The Holy Spirit and my kids! I love the variety of each day walking with the Holy Spirit.
Who are your favorite authors?
I grew up loving the Tales of Narnia so C.S. Lewis has to be first on this list. My all-time favourite book is Perelandra in his Cosmic Trilogy. My current favourites are Karen Kingsbury, Janette Oke and Francine Rivers. I love the Lineage of Grace series by Francine Rivers about some of the unlikely heroines in Jesus' genealogy.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Walking, enjoying nature and gardening.
What is your writing process?
I have the craziest writing process. I never dreamed I would be an author. I fell into the process backwards after wanting to find out more about the subject of Identity for friends. About the same time, I started writing blog posts on kehilanews which shared some of the insights on Bible stories that I learned through hard experience and listening to the Holy Spirit. I have only a few hours each morning to write before picking up my girls from school at 1pm. Each day I write for a few hours and then during the 20 minute commute to school the Holy Spirit highlights the most important sections and the lessons that I need to learn. The following day I rewrite that section and start the next.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Worcestershire UK - the area that Tolkien based his famous Hobbit's The Shire on. I had a friend who lived in a thatched cottage but most of the village was more modern housing. Shakespeare's Stratford on Avon was only 30 minutes away which meant that our school trips were to some of the best Theatre in the UK. I loved the behind the scenes tours and discovering how costumes, make-up and masks affect our perception of character.
When did you first start writing?
I wrote my first blog post in February 2017 and started work on my book in April 2017.
What are you working on next?
I am writing a devotional called Freedom in Messiah based on the book of Exodus. It is a guide to finding and maintaining the freedom that Jesus won for us through the cross. It is releasing in the summer 2018.

Identity is crucial today. Knowing who you are and understanding your role in God's Kingdom forms the foundation for finding your calling and destiny. But as you set out on this great adventure of faith, everything you once considered essential to the journey becomes a hindrance. Only in losing yourself will you find your true identity buried inside
