Interview with Dionne Washington

When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Well I tend to spend my time writing of course, but I like reading as well.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I read the blurbs and check out the front cover. If the cover is good and the blurb makes me want to see more, I read the very beginning and then the ending to see if the main character survives. I'm a sucker for rooting for the main character.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes, it was a mystery type. But for young people. I still have it though I've since then been writing others. Though I do go back to it and read through it/editing a bit.
What is your writing process?
I tend to write a synopsis for myself then I begin a plot outline and through that I write the manuscript.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
Nope, I don't remember the first story I ever read since I was very young when my parents started reading to me. I got hooked from then on reading other books. When I learned how to read myself.
How do you approach cover design?
I don't. I make the most simplest one imaginable.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
I have way more than five favorite. Most of them are by the same author because his stories make me want to read them over and over again.
What do you read for pleasure?
A lot of the time. I read when I can and sometimes when I don't want to. It's a great way for me to relax.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
Kindle at the moment. Though I hope to get a tablet and others later on in the future.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Since this is my first time ever, I'm doing the indie publishing right now. To see how it works. Then maybe I'll go with the Traditional publishing. Both using the marketing techniques that go with these two ways of publishing.
Describe your desk
Messy, filled with paper and a computer with a printer. I can find everything in this way.
