Interview with Richard Le Normand

When did you first start writing?
I first started writing in 2003. On a train journey I was watching teenage boys misbehaving and started to reflect on my teenage years when I was living in German occupied Jersey 1940 - 1945. And wondered how they would have coped with the constant fear of the Gestapo watching them.
What's the story behind your latest book?
In 1942 the Japanese invasion of Australia was imminent, panic decisions were made to conceal arms and gold bullion ready for resistance forces.Army officer established a hidden cache but were killed before revealing hiding place.Years later,the cache was found by a crook, he decided use an old wartime submarine to remove the gold. A British Army officer is sent to help police foil the criminal's plans.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I discovered the enjoyment of writing then I wished to share my stories with other people.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
Smashwords has allowed me to publish my books the way I would like them to be published or read. With so many outlets it has allowed me to share my stories with so many people.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The joy of exploring so many new ideas.
What do your fans mean to you?
My fans keep me cool.
What are you working on next?
My next novel is about a young boy who discovers gold, stay tuned.

What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
The thought of a cup of tea.
