Interview with Rogue Gilbert

Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Charlemont, Massachusetts USA. No, I dont live there anymore. It did influence me to draw and write because it is in the middle of nowhere. The view was always beautiful and there was always an adventure for me and my sister.
When did you first start writing?
I first started writing when I took a Creative Writing class in 9th grade. It really gave me a way to express myself. I thank my teacher for most of my knowledge in writing.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
It has given me a way of keeping all my stories organized and to give my hand a break from writing with a pencil.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
My greastest joy of writing is that i get to express my thoughts and give life to my dreams even if i cant achieve it in real life.
What do your fans mean to you?
My fans mean everything to me because they keep me going. Even if its critisized I dont mind, because that means they liked it enough to even read it or check it out. It also helps me find out what im doing wrong and how to fix it. It makes me better.
Who are your favorite authors?
Shakespeare, Edgar Allan Poe, A.R. Wise, Stephen King, etc.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
My sisters! They are both younger than me, one being 12 and the other is 2. They inspire me. Most people say they idol celebrities or parents but me, I idol my 2 year old sister because shes always so amused. Shes almost always happy. Shes beautiful and loves to learn.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I spend my time with my family and friends. I try to stay active and play video games.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes, it was about me going fishing with my uncle during summer vacation.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
Black Beauty, it was beautiful and very emotional. It really inspired me.
How do you approach cover design?
I try to find something that represents the whole story and the main character.
What do you read for pleasure?
I read about Vampires/Werewolves/Faeries/Etc. Pretty much fantasy and horror.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
The Nook.
