Interview with John Dill Jr.

What motivated you to become an indie author?
I'm not getting any younger and this seemed like the fast track into an exciting field of publishing my brand of fiction. Sci fi/romance.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The finished product, great reviews and an original story that came from between my own ears.
What are you working on next?
Book Three of the Braxin King series and a hard cover deal.
Who are your favorite authors?
Henry Thoreau, Ayn Rand, old old school.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Reading, promoting my books, wait a minute...when am I not writing?
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Vaguely. Over fifty years ago. A brief description of the nature around my home. My English teacher placed it on the board and told me I'd make a good writer one day.
What is your writing process?
I dwell on a story mentally for awhile then maybe write a short story or two aroiund it. if it clicks I start at the beginning and work off the cuff...freehand. This method requires more editing but appears to be the only way I can.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
I remember reading Thoreau and loving his style. I was enraptured with philosophy for years but have always also been a huge sci fi fan.
How do you approach cover design?
What is your e-reading device of choice?
My computer.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Still working on that. It's a learning curve.
