Interview with Yogesh Vyas

Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
i am a student from India. I grew up and still live in Gujarat which is a great place to live. India is the place that makes you learn how to live with great heart. if you spend here some time you will learn how you can find happiness in little things. We all Hindis(Indians) live here in great atmosphere of love and harmony. i am really lucky to be here.
i believe that your surroundings affect you a lot. Social atmosphere around me also played a great part in making me write my first satirical, cartoon magazine cum book. parents and teachers in my nation are always worried about education of their children. i believe that people in my nation are putting unwanted and unnecessary extra efforts towards educating their children. So as a student i have written this book cum magazine which presents the overall picture of educational system in India. It also contains new logic and ideas through which a good students friendly educational system can be formed. i also want to send a strong message to my young Indian youth through my writing.
My writing actually began sub-consciously when i started writing my thoughts about social issues in my diary. slowly and steadily it just developed into a literature. A literature which also contains satirical jokes and cartoons.
When did you first start writing?
i don't know when my thoughts of my diary just transformed into a book. i have been writing my thoughts and my point of view over certain social issues in my diary for almost more than a year now. so i can say that i unknowingly started writing when i was writing my diary.
What's the story behind your latest book?
my latest book is a satirical cartoon book on the educational system. there is not only satire but the book also will guide the society to develop a new point of view towards education. it has some new ideas and concepts that can help the Indian government and the society to develop a new educational system.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
as i have mentioned earlier i just unknowingly became an indie author. there are many experiences of mine i have just written in a satirical manner. so i would say it was just destined to become an author.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
i was searching for a platform which can help me share my thoughts with the whole world. I have written my first book in my mother tongue...because it always feels great to write in your mother tongue. i have limited resources so i was searching for a platform which can make my Gujarati literature reach to my people. It was a great moment when i received an email from smashwords ensuring that i can publish my Gujarati literature through this brilliant platform. it is great for the people who want to self publish their work in their mother tongue.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
i just write my thoughts in my diary... then afterwards a cartoon comes in the mind that is related to the thoughts...it is a great process....many times i get waked up from sleep and start writing and arranging a structure of my book at midnight... this is a great process and it feels great when a cartoon image comes in my mind and I laugh at it. i thank god for this....
What do your fans mean to you?

ABDUL KALAM ji's life.... basically i learnt from the story that there are might be many religions existing, many castes, many races but everyone finally is a human....the story taught the lessons of equality... you should read the biography of shree A.P.J. ABDUL KALAM ji....

i don't know much about marketing but if you have good friends or good people to support you on social media then it might be great....
How do you approach cover design?
i am working here with limited resources....i don't feel bad working with limited resources..i take pride in preparing a good content with limited resources.... i just go to paint and type my title name in big fonts....make it width less vs height more....save it....then i change the pixels from picture manager....hehehehe.....simple.....why should i waste rs.500 after the cover design....if you have a good title and good content you don't need any attractive cover design.
Describe your desk
desk with some sketches, a dictionary, a BAPA-SITARAM photo, a pencil, a sharpener, an eraser, the papers are here and there... sometimes it gets harder for me to find things...sometimes i get my diaries also on the desk...

What are your future plans??
hehehe... simple... i've written somewhat good... somewhat bad... now it's time to WORK... writing can show path... but action will solve problems... it's time to act... it's time... TIME TO WIN... TIME TO ACHIEVE GOALS...

i've found few friends even... would be a good journey...
what is your message to your nation and everyone?
i want say to the youth of my nation that don't listen to the people who are trying to divide you....don't even listen to your parents if they teach you about their castes and religion. castes and religions are not the subjects the Indian youth should concentrate on... youth of India should start thinking about their farmers and their soldiers.
What are your future plans??
hehehe... simple... i've written somewhat good... somewhat bad... now it's time to WORK... writing can show path... but action will solve problems... it's time to act... it's time... TIME TO WIN... TIME TO ACHIEVE GOALS...
