Hi fellow adventurists! I wanted to stop and tell you a little about myself. I live in Kentucky with my two dogs, Max and Rick, my hubby Bill and my daughter Angel. I have two grown kids, Jazzy and Jaime. I miss them all the time. I also just became a grandma to a super cutie-pie named Lucian! I'm sure one happy girl! I have been teaching elementary students for over 20 years. Mixing teaching with creativity is my passion! Although I'm a writer, I also love performing what I've created for my students. I can get quite wild! I have written over 500 poems, songs, videos and stories for kids. My husband and I are creating a website to share these with the world. It will be ready soon. I hope you enjoyed reading Tiny's Ties. I have already begun writing the next book in this budding series! Keep a look out! My motto is: Have fun and the rest will follow! So keep on reading and don't forget to have fun!!!
What's the story behind your latest book?
I am an elementary teacher and when I worked in Arizona, I had a principal named Mr. Hepler who loved all kinds of amazing ties! He asked me if I knew of a book about ties that he could share for our library night where he would be reading a story to students. I didn't know of any and couldn't find one so I wrote him a short story. Over the years, this short story became longer and longer. I edited it countless times and soon realized it would be a great chapter book! I love this story! I've read it to classrooms and they loved it too! I hope you will as well!
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Sharing my writing with students and seeing their faces light up, makes it all worth while! I love to teach students lessons while igniting in them an excitement for reading but also as writers. I believe everyone has a story to tell, it's what makes us connected to our past, present and future. I want children to realize that they too have wonderful stories to tell and if I can do it, so can they! I started writing when I was 8 and though my writing has definitely improved since then, a writer is never too young to start sharing. It not only is important to learning about ourselves but it's an exciting adventure that we can take traveling through our own imaginations. I love sharing but I also love when students are brave enough to share with me!
