Cliff Shafter

Biography

Cliff Shafter was born in Harlem, NY, 1963. His parents were from the rural South. They endured Jim Crow laws and other degrading aspects of segregation. Neither of his parents graduated from high school, although Cliff’s father later obtained his GED. Cliff attended primary and secondary public schools in NYC, Hawaii and Oklahoma. He graduated from a small public university in Oklahoma while working full-time. After graduation he served in the U.S. Army as an officer in the Field Artillery. Cliff served in the U.S. and South Korea. He later obtained graduate degrees from the University of Oklahoma and an MBA from the Ross School of Business, University of Michigan. For more than 20 years he has worked in the healthcare industry. Cliff serves in his local church and is on the Board of Trustees of a non-profit community hospital in New York.
