The only problem I had with this book is that it was too short…I know it is a first in a series but I want more…NOW. I fell in love with this book after the first chapter…the story is brilliant and I felt like I was in the Garden watching as it materialize. The characters are believable and very likable and/or hated. The story builds quickly and keeps you interested and reading until you have finished the book and are looking for the next installment in the series…which I hope is coming soon, I can’t wait to see what happens next, I would recommend this book to anyone whom loves fantasy or a brilliant book. I guarantee that your adventure in the “Soul Garden” will be remarkable and you won’t want to leave…I can’t wait to go back myself.

  • Burly and Grum's Halloween Adventure on Jan. 06, 2013

This is my favor Burly and Grum adventure and unfortunate the shortest, only 11 pages. But what a 11 page story. It starts out with Burly the Bear, Grum the Goblin, and Max the young Human are getting ready to go out trick or treating. Max is getting all their costumes ready and Burly and Grum have never heard of trick or treating so poor Max is trying to explain it to them. When they finally get started a little crying girl runs into Burly. Someone was mean to her and she dropped her fairy glitter. The friends decided to help her by taking her home but they will trick or treat the houses on the way. So they start out and as always trouble begins. The adventure is wonderful and as always Kate Tenbeth and Rob Jones have done a wonderful job of writing and illustrating another great story. The friends meet and make new friends and help someone in need. I have reviewed all of the Burly and Grum books and you can read them all on this site. Kate Tenbeth also gives a donation to the Born Free Foundation for each book that is purchased. So how can you go wrong…buying her stories not only do you get a fun filled story that will make you smile (a lot) you are also contributing to a great foundation.
  • Burly & Grum and The Birthday Surprise on Jan. 06, 2013

This is the third book in the Burly and Grum series and it is as much fun as the others. Again Kate Tenbeth has hit the mark on filling this book with fun, excitement, mystery and drama for kids of all ages 4 to 104 and beyond. In this adventure it is Burly’s the Bear birthday and Mike the Angel wants to give him the best birthday ever. It starts out with Burly and Grum the Goblin taken to the beach by Mike. They have never seen the beach or ocean before. The three of them have lunch and then Mike has work he has to do for his “Boss” so he leaves Burly and Grum for a quiet day on the island. It doesn’t take long for them to get into trouble because of course the deserted island isn’t deserted. The book ends with a big birthday party for Burly, with all his friends there, Grum the Goblin, Mike the Angel, Max the young Human, and some new friends they meet on the island. I loved this book as much as I have all of her books. Again, she has given us a new fresh storyline with a fell good ending and a fun adventure. I have reviewed all of the Burly and Grum books and you can read them all on this site. I recommend this book and all of her books to anyone who wants a fun short read. All of her books are around 40 pages long but she sure knows how to pack a lot of fun in a very short time. It has wonderful illustrations by Rob Jones…I wish there were more, a lot more and Kate’s witting is great.
