Donan Berg

Biography

A native of Ireland, award-winning United States author Donan Berg brings readers Gold Award heartwarming romance, adventurous Gold Award teen fantasy added to thrillers, police procedurals and entertaining mystery with clues that eventually fit together in clever ways.
The page-turning core of his novels is human drama, challenge and victory over antagonists, perceived and/or hidden.
Prior to his ten novels, he honed his writing as a journalist, corporate executive and lawyer.
His most recent novel, Lucia's Fantasy World, earned the Literary Titan 2022 Gold Award. In 2021 his Find the Girl, A Fantasy Novel, was awarded a Literary Titan Gold Award. For 435 days, Find the Girl, A Fantasy Novel, headed the AuthorsDen most popular novel list of all novels, not only fantasy.. This chart topping glory exceeds his novels A Body To Bones and Alexa's Gold, both of which enjoyed 100 days as most popular. A Body To Bones still ranks a most popular mystery/suspense.
His mystery, Into the Dark, brings intrigue front and center where twists and turns with unaccountable cash, threats, and societal ills are sprung with gusto. A thoroughly engaging Sheriff Jonas McHugh, first encountered in Baby Bones, Second Skeleton Mystery Series, must again be strong and imaginative. Alexa's Gold, a five-star novel, combines a unique contemporary heroine in a new adult romance within a thrilling mystery.
Gold writing awards and five-star reviewer accolades are not new to Author Berg. He landed in the winner's circle four times at the Ninth Annual Dixie Kane Memorial Writing Contest to best his three awards in the prior year's eighth annual contest.
The bedrock of his mystery writing is his three-part skeleton series mysteries: A Body To Bones, The Bones Dance Foxtrot, and Baby Bones. The series followed by Abbey Burning Love, Adolph's Gold, and One Paper Heart, his Gold Award romance.
A reviewer of his short story, Amanda, notes that Author Berg offers a keen insight into couple relationships and a very clever ending.

Smashwords book reviews by Donan Berg

  • Undercover Heat on Jan. 25, 2022

Within the romance genre, the latitude for plot is narrow. This novel appears to be an attempt to wed the classic 1940s PI mystery with TV's modern day "Castle" (notice the "Heat" title). The concept sweats cliche. An audience desirous of erotic scenes may be satisfied while the prose lacks gripping literary characterization and/or plot twists. Sneaky, recurrent info dumps create no empathy for either main character, both flawed FBI agents. Was shocked by the lack of continuity in the first scene when both are said to be sitting in a bar booth which is then followed by one talking of following the other. The entire staging is nonsensical. The rating is measured both by the concept and its execution.
