I am an avid outdoorsman and enjoy stories involving outdoor adventures, as well as fishing, piloting aircraft, hiking, and introducing my grandchildren to nature. I split my time between two homes. One is located in Galveston, Texas and the other is located in the Sangre De Christo mountains of northern New Mexico.

What are your five favorite books, and why?
It is very difficult to tell you what my five favorite books are. In fact, I'm not sure which ONE is my favorite. I would say my answer would likely change tomorrow if asked the same question. But I will try to give you five titles. As for why I choose these books, it's simply because I read many books and these come to mind at this moment as being my favorites. They are "The Guardian" by Nicholas Sparks, "A Thousand Country Roads" by Robert James Waller, "Theodore Boone, Kid Lawyer" by John Grisham, "Duane's Depressed" by Larry McMurtry, and "The Dream Giver" by Bruce Wilkinson. Ooops! That was six, not five...but I was only getting started.
What do you read for pleasure?
I like to read adventure books, mostly fiction. I enjoy studying different author's styles as I read their books. I notice POV (point of view) changes. I notice if it is written in first or third person. I study the art of how a good writer shows me with words what is happening on the pages, and does not simply tell me a story. I love survival stories the most.
School is out for the summer. Twelve year old Morgan just found out he and his family will be returning to his favorite place, the Sangre de Christo Mountains of New Mexico. He's very excited, but it would be especially cool if his dad were to relent and allow his best friend Jacob to join them. His dad never has time to hang out with just him... but with Jacob along it would be a real blast.
