  "Book Review." by Diganta Barua on Face book on 9th October, 2019 (In verbitim) These holidays helped me reading my friend Hiranya's Book "Father's choice." As a member of old jury of censor Board I would give it an 'A' certificate because of part of its contents. But in today's world it will get a Clear movie with no scenes cut. Undoubtedly, I enjoyed reading it thoroughly. As we enjoy living in an old simple "Assam Type House", I also enjoyed simple Assam Type English used by Hiranya. Many a occassion, I abandon a book midway, fortunately not this time. I have bought many books with the hope to read it in leisure time. But the leisure time has not yet come. Some such books are now read by my daughter before me. When I take up a book, my daughter keeps asking me deuta, how is the book, have you completed. Not in this case, as I completed hundred thirty odd pages in one go. Unlike my son, I am a very slow reader like in all other activities. My mind is always multi Tasker. Don't have the patience like my daughter to search for the dictionary for every new word. Hence, I abandon, voluminous books with juggernauts. I could not imagine this book would be so interesting. A novel with an Assamese background story from description of village to the cities of New Delhi, Sydney, Melbourne, New York, Washington, Bangkok, Vienna through the eyes of a tourist and an Govt officer. The extraordinary situation of a widower father marrying a girl chosen for his son and their life is so lucidly written that it makes one engrossed to every page of the book. The Ghost Stories in particular were totally mesmerizing. The last part of the book brought tears to an emotional person like me at 5 'O' clock in the morning. The ugly part of human life is truly ugly. I am not sure, if I could do justice to write a review or a mere feedback on a book as this is the first time I have done so. No doubt, I also liked the book Half Lion as the Biography on the life of PVNarasimha Rao. I read books by my friends Nitin A Gokhale and Kishalay Bhattacharjee on Different subjects. But besides Sanjay Hazarika's books probably for the first time I read an English novel by a Assamese writer in English. Thank you Hiranya for gifting me the book and congratulate you for doing such wonderful literary work beyond your office work. Aroon Baruah's friend Kanak is an interesting fellow, am I right Hiranya? If you're not a voracious reader like me who only "thinks" a Book is the best company you can try if it is really so in loneliness.
