Alan W. Harris

Biography

Alan Harris is a veterinarian in private practice near Columbia, South Carolina. He and his wife of thirty years have home schooled their six children for fifteen years.
Always a lover of plants, animals, and the out-of-doors, Dr. Harris was in veterinary medical school at Auburn, Alabama, when he was inspired by a three-step waterfall in a small creek. The seeds of Hawthorn’s Discovery were sown. The story was completed over twenty years later at the demand of his children, who at the end of every chapter always asked, “What happens next, Dad?”
It is Dr. Harris’s hope that this book will bring families together, as it has his own, in fun-filled, exciting evenings of read-aloud adventure, and that it will stimulate thought-provoking discussions on character development and living out one’s faith in the world.
