Alastair Franks

Biography

A bloke on a bike who used to commute to work before having to retire, due to ill health.
I played field hockey for about 30 years, representing the island in the process - not the first team I might add - then got the Rugby bug - watching that is, not playing!
Now it's the cycling bug, which WILL NOT be curtailed by an open mouth moment I had in June '16.
To cut straight to the point, I was diagnosed with MS (multiple sclerosis) on 20th July 2016, so after the "Oh My God" moments had passed - that took a couple of days! - I went into "research mode" but was also rewarded with my Mum coming up trumps with an article on Professor George Jelinek, which in turn pointed to www.overcomingms.org.
Instant vegetarian was one of the results - bit of a blow, as I love BBQ's!

I'm a bloke who tires very quickly, because of this "filth" inside me. I'm going to India in December for the first of three sessions, visiting an MS Hospital which specialises in Ayurveda - What a blow :) it means I'll miss out on 3 damp, cold and windy Jersey winters. Talk about taking one for the team!

The book can be obtained from various places, which are listed below. I've provided a link for each of them, so just click and go wild :)

Happy reading and I hope you enjoy.

A Wobbly Ride
Price: $3.80 USD. Words: 13,350. Language: English. Published: June 21, 2019 . Categories: Nonfiction » Health, wellbeing, & medicine » Diseases / nervous system (incl. brain)
Although this book may be about my life’s journey so far since being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, what it is NOT is a lesson on spiritualism, meditation, positivity and diet, although there may be benefits to be gained from all of them and there is mention of these aspects in some shape or form in the book.
