Almalia Card

Biography

About the Author

In 2008, Almalia Card fulfilled a dream of self-publishing her first novel entitled, Sister’s Pact/A Plan for My Life. Her writing is inspired by her personal life lessons, what goes on in the world around her and a love for the written word.

Educated in the Detroit Public School system, Almalia showed a special talent for creative writing in her English and Writing Composition classes. She was inspired to try writing her own poetry and short stories after being exposed to the likes of The Last Poet’s, Nikki Giovanni, and her favorite writer Langston Hughes and Terry McMillan

Almalia took a break in her college education to get married and have children. In 1987, she graduated from Wayne State University with a B.A. in Journalism. After graduation she did some freelance business writing while she looked to start her Journalism career. The career never came, but divorce did, and she found herself a single parent of two young boys. Being the single parent of two young boys and finding time to write was hard.

When her boys became young men Almalia began pursuing her passion for writing again. Currently, Almalia has published two novels on Smashwords.com. She is currently working on a third novel she hopes to finish by Spring of 2012.

When Almalia is not writing she enjoys singing in her church choir, and lunching with her girls and spending time with family and her sixteen nieces and nephews. Almalia is married to her friend and lover Mr. Poopee, his love name (read her blog AlmaliaAdventures@worpress.com) and is patiently waiting to be made a grandmother.
