David Munroe is a talented and critically-acclaimed writer with a perspective that is especially relevant for today's marketplace. While the economic crisis continues to be one of the most important issues of our time, Dave has, for many years, represented the voice of the common man who has lived through layoffs, loan rejections and unrealized dreams. Dave's writing gives this element of society a voice on the written page again, providing the prototype for this century’s recession-era fiction (i.e., a current day Ring Lardner or Raymond Carver).
This is Dave's third published work. Following in the tradition of his first collection of stories published by Hounslow Press (which the Vancouver Sun considered “as welcome as a gust of fresh air in a public washroom - just the thing to rekindle your appetite for solid mainstream fiction”), this new collection provides an entertaining middle-class, middle-aged perspective on life. It includes numerous short stories that explore the lives of people burning out before their prime, in the midst of their unfulfilled prime, and in the rapidly diminishing years beyond, when they’ve discovered that time has passed them by.
You can find Dave's critically-acclaimed first novel, The Unexpected and Fictional Career Change of Jim Kearns, at all online book selling websites.
