Shai is sent to the strange, high-tech world of the Outerlands where she agrees to trade her personality and memories for implanted ones in order to capture Ava. But her old life keeps resurfacing; interrupting her mission and twisting her perception of what's real and what's not. Who can she trust when she can't even trust herself?
It's just a harmless necklace. Everyone wears them, like a talisman.
At least that's what sixteen year old Shai Eli has always believed. But why does her community enforce a law that keeps people from removing the necklaces?
When a book, a key, and a vision begin to unravel the sinister secret behind the necklaces, Shai discovers the guy she's falling for may not be who he says he is.

Wow! This was a book that kept me focussed for long periods of time. It took me some time to get used to going back and forth in time and to keep all the characters straight, but once I was drawn in to the unique characters I wanted to discover what would happen next. The character's use of language made the story even more authentic. I applaud Jones for keeping it credible.
This book is very well-written and unique. Right from the moment I met Sharo and her brother I wanted to know the rest of the story (not to mention the rest of the characters.)
Jones did a fantastic job with characterization and keeping the plot alive and pumping with twists and turns until the end.
The Christian Sci-fi aspect was my favorite part of the book, since I enjoy parallels and allegories.
I recommend this thoroughly enjoyable read!
