This is a refreshing change from that. This story is a fun, light, mix of classic fantasy creatures and original ideas in a very friendly home like modern small town. If you are looking for a enjoyable story, a unique author voice that mixes humor with insight, and something that sets the expected on its side. This is a great read. Think Northern Exposure mixed with Once Upon a Time, Harry Potter, and a splash of Warehouse 13 or similar quirky light hearted SyFy shows.
