David Alan Harwood

I have lived in Asia since I came to work in Nepal in July 1977. I worked 2.5 years there, then took a 3 month trip in Asia. After a short return time to the US, I came back to Asia and visited Hong Kong, Malaysia and Thailand and got work in Thailand as a teacher. I have lived in Thailand since then, and married a Thai national and have two houses in Thailand.

I collect coins, banknotes and stamps, as well as antiques. I speak 6 languages and read the numeral scripts of 12 altogether. My coin and banknote hobby causes me too learn these so I can read the notes without other's help. I study culture and enjoy reading about things I find that are interesting, like opium weights from Burma and Burmese lacquer ware. I am now studying Burmese so I can communicate more with the dealers I meet, who also speak Hindi.

I enjoy sharing my things - collections of all kinds - on ebay ( trader55553), and ( Delcampe - asiantreasures ) as I meet so many people like myself and learn new things. I feel collectors of distinction will get things I had to work hard for. However, the real fun was the going out and finding all the things in every place I have gone, making memories I will always treasure. The treasures I keep remind me of those times.

This is the story of my life from age 4 or so to the present time. It covers my life from being an upstate New York small town boy and the experiences of that time until I went overseas to work as a volunteer in Nepal for the Peace Corps. I explain key events that show my character and those who shaped it and the situations I was in various places in both the US and overseas. Most of the learning
