What do you read for pleasure?
My reading tastes are very broad, spanning fiction and non-fiction. My main criterion for selecting books to read is good quality writing, as indicated by glowing reviews in the New York Times or The Economist. For fiction, I'm likely to select a mystery, a thriller, or a historical novel from a setting or period that interests me. For non-fiction, I like current politics and economics, especially international, science and history.
Our local public library has a splendid program under which they purchase a copy of any book requested by a local resident, so long as it's vetted and approved by their Acquisitions Committee. They're so generous that I often request two books a week and almost all of my requests are granted. This permits me to read current releases in hardcover. a real treat!
What is your e-reading device of choice?
Since I am 75 years of age, I confess that I greatly prefer reading print books. I own a Kindle and I respect the fact that younger readers prefer e-reading devices. But I like to hold a book in my hands and turn the page.
