Andrew Teeluck

Biography

I'm a software developer by day, fantasizer by night. I have several hobbies such as woodworking, geocaching, wine-making, and ballroom dancing with my wife.

New to the list of hobbies is story-writing. My daydreams occupy my mind whenever I'm taking a walk alone. Ever since I was 15, working my newspaper route, scenes of a story entered my mind. Two scenes to be specific. They recurred with a little more detail each day, but they were only loosely connected to each other, and never developed further.

For the next twenty years, those scenes sat dormant, sitting at the back of my mind. Always there, but never more than a hum.

Then upon working at a new job I often walked a fair distance to get to work. For some reason, those scenes came back to the front of my mind. A story started to develop, and I decided I really needed to get it on paper... or rather, a computer screen. For a while I couldn't figure out how to tie those scenes together. Once I figured that out, I needed an overall plot. Eventually I had most of a story, and now I'm making time to get it written.

I've written a few scenes, and decided that I wanted to put it aside for a bit, and write a short story to serve as an introduction to the universe the novel exists in. The novel, when written, will leave open the possibility for expansion into a series. But the main focus after the short story will be a novel that brings those old scenes into an overall story, and publish it for the masses to enjoy.

Oh, and I'm an apparent Matt Damon look-alike. My profile picture might not reveal that too well, but on the street, I get that comment about once a month.

Smashwords Interview

When did you first start writing?
I started writing small snippets of my upcoming novel (tentatively named Slipping Realities) a few years ago. The ideas that were in the back of my mind since I was 15 years old started to resurface and I mentally developed them. I decided to start writing these ideas down, with the goal of getting them together into a novel.
What's the story behind your latest book?
A man is the sole survivor of his research lab's destruction. The lab was destroyed while encountering a mysterious void on the outer reaches of the solar system. But he seems to notice things changing around him, while at the same time gaining memories of an ancient calamity.
