While the army of Falsehood is conquering the world
Truth slumberously dwells in self-confinement

Old and tired Jataayu was never fit for combat. He was well aware of the fact that he was no match to fight the mighty Ravana. Defeat and death were absolute certitude.
Yet, Jataayu said, “Over my dead body. You can’t abduct Sita as long as I am alive.”

So what did Jataayu achieve after all? Jataayu’s fighting and dying couldn’t prevent the inevitable, as Ravana anyway abducted Sita.

Perhaps Jataayu was too naive to have the wisdom, ‘you can’t fight evil single handedly.’

But, we are not naïve, and we have the age old wisdom. We never bother to give any resistance to any evil; neither single handedly, nor collectively.
