August Darrow Doty
August Darrow Doty was born, like all people of character, in Danbury, CT, during the first presidential term of Ronald Reagan. He now lives to the north, in the mysterious hills of Litchfield County, with his wonderful wife, a pair of well-contented cats, and, at any given time, about two dozen mice, who rattle around the drafty walls of the old house.
The Sugar Rush
by August Darrow Doty
Anyone who has studied the effects of sugar plantations on the Americas has surely found, as in so many other instances, that a lot of evil can come from something that should otherwise have been very sweet.
In The Sugar Rush everyone faces the same basic temptation: can you control your life--can you live perpetually in the good life? Because, after all, even the good life has its dark side.
