Etha Gray

Biography

Playwright, Director, Author, Poet, Etha Gray - started her acting career in a school play at Bryan Junction, Texas in 1942, with a poem titled: “I Am The Spirit of Dawn.” She produced her first ‘solo performance’ at Corinth Baptist Church in Temple, TX in 1945, at age nine. Afterwards, she used every opportunity to be ‘on stage’ doing one-woman shows featuring her poetry, hosting her own T.V. show, and as radio.DJ in Houston and Brownwood, Texas.

She wrote her first 2-hour dramatic stage production, with music, in 1985, Supreme Decree, based on the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

In Seaside California in 1989, she started producing under the auspices of Citizen’s League for Progress (She was one of the original organizers) for five years and won many awards and commendations for her efforts. She formed Theater Concepts, Inc., a 501 © 3 non-profit corporation, in 1998, to continue to enhance the lives of others, while providing an opportunity for those interested in theater to experience the joy of stage performance through involvement and attendance.
