Aviva Vaughn

Biography

Aviva Vaughn is a lover of food, travel and books. She has been a voracious reader her avivavaughn2016whole life finishing Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women when she was five.

She likes to laugh, eat and be intellectually stimulated, preferably at the same time; and enjoys reading and writing about strong, modern characters, no matter what era or planet they are in/on.

She isn’t afraid to try new things, which has made for an interesting—although not always straight forward—life. Her favorite “two truths and a lie” line is: I have ridden bareback in the Navajo nation, I have jumped out of an airplane over New Zealand, and I have gone spelunking in Costa Rica. Answer will appear at the end of BECKONED, Part 4: From Barcelona with Love ;^)

She lives in Southern California.

Smashwords Interview

Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Los Angeles to American parents of Asian, European, and Latin ethnicity (mostly...there's a lot of other stuff in there too). I was a multicultural child in a multicultural city. At my house it wasn't strange to have a dinner with chow mein and tacos at the same meal. This early exposure to different foods and cultures GREATLY influences my writing.

My series, BECKONED, is best described as a steamy, second-chance romance inspired by food, travel, and Jane Austen.

I love experiencing new sites, smells, and flavors. People tell me that BECKONED--which features London, Bath, Los Angeles, Barcelona, and Honolulu--makes them feel like they are traveling and tasting everything I write about. I LOVE that. My "cast" of characters is also extremely diverse, because that's the world I know. There is something for everyone in my books.
When did you first start writing?
I've been writing my whole life, but it was always "just for me." BECKONED is the first thing that I've written with the intent to publish and I started it in May 2017. It began as a fictional journaling experiement, and I found it to be a very cathartic experience, but then it took on a life of its own.
