Smashwords Interview

Describe your desk
Lol! I like this question. As a single mother I do everything on a budget, so I had to find something affordable and efficient. My favorite color is red so I was happy that I found an adjustable red laptop stand from Ikea, small enough and shaped perfectly to fit in a corner of my bedroom. It has just enough room on it for me to fit a cup of chia tea without having to worry about it spilling on my MacBook. I keep a 'yes' button that I press when I either need a positive reinforcement or when my kids deserve an affirmative to one of their requests. A box of tissue accompanies my asthma inhaler, for when my allergies start acting up and my external hard drive fits right behind my laptop. Interestingly enough, my desk doesn't stay in the corner I assigned it to. It's moved from the corner, to the middle of the room, to next to my bed.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Paterson and East Orange New Jersey. I can't say the geography of where I grew up influences my writing because I was raised sheltered. But my grandmother's house where my family lived until I was 14, has a great bearing on my writing. Technically it wouldn't matter if her house was in Paterson or Oklahoma, because It is the events from inside the walls that effects my writing.
