Rilka Warbanoff

Biography

Rilka Warbanoff is known and loved by Victorians in Australia as the weekly voice of culinary culture on the high–rating afternoon Drive Show on 774 Melbourne. Idiosyncratic, Rilka is reknowned for her authentic East European recipes and is the published author of ‘Rilka’s Feasts’ in 2012.
During studies at Uni South Australia, she joined the family’s extensive hospitality business, managing Barossa Motor Lodge (amongst others), winning the S.A. Tourism Award in 1982.
Rilka moved to Melbourne in the early 90’s and has had a varied career as an entrepreneur, business woman and style icon (being a finalist in Telstra Business Woman of the Year and being named The Age Best-Dressed Woman).
In addition to running her own executive search business, Rilka was involved in developing Tatiarra – a Heathcote Shiraz described by Robert Parker as one of the world’s great shiraz - it achieved 100 in it's first vintage. The wine is made by South Australian winemaker Ben Riggs. She was a Director of a number of prominent organisations – St. Vincent Hospital and The Melbourne Zoo Foundation among them, and has always contributed to the community through her interests in tourism, multi-cultural activities and philanthropy.
Rilka recently returned to Adelaide in South Australia and is living in the Hills. While consulting to business in Adelaide, she has developed a range of healthy lifestyle foods – Rilka’s Real Food.
The products are designed for people looking for healthy food, that is gluten, wheat, and yeast free, with no added sugar. She and her partner have set up a food production business and cooking school in the Adelaide Hills at Hahndorf. The Cooking School covers health lifestyle options and shows participants how to make home entertainment fun, easy and cost effective – matching fine wine and food.
Rilka has now embarked on publishing a first series of healthy food eBooks, that will be accompanied by short videos on healthy cooking recipes at home in your own kitchen

What are you working on next?
I Can Boil ... Water - side Dishes is the first of 6 eBooks that will be completed in the next few weeks. Our food products are now in 3 supermarket chains, and we are continuing the rollout.
We have also just started on short videos that will allow budding cooks to download to their tablet and cook from the video in their kitchen.
