Memoirist Bekka King writes memoirs and “creative fiction” novellas spun off from her real-life memoir (“Tales of a Tone-Deaf Walrus”). Each novella is a semi-biographic reflection on topics of her choice, allowing her to flirt with an assortment of life fantasies.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I started journaling in high school. Before that, even, I remember being told at eight years old that I didn't need to re-write my first draft of a writing assignment in school because my first draft was "already complete."
What's the story behind your latest book?
A semi-biographical blend of personal demographics, family genealogy, consideration of several "life topics that matter personally, and wishful thinking.
Crossing continents, this inquisitive college student finds herself crossing states of being. At the same time, her studies cross disciplines & blur with her personal interest in the supernatural. She transcends knowledge limits that she seeks to understand. Themes: Coming of age, the supernatural, Irish mythology. Sequel will be released on the summer solstice, 2016.
