How do you approach cover design?
Designing the cover of my book was pretty tricky. I'm not by nature a keen designer. I eventually chose one of the stronger poems, which had a strong theme in the book, and designed it around that. My sister is a keen mountain climber, and her perfect shot of the nepalese mountain was enough inspiration to fit very well with the theme of my book!
What are your five favorite books, and why?
Great Expectations: Charles Dickens- Incredibly written. Amazing story and the characters are brilliant. Totally immersive and a classic book for a good reason
The Memory Keeper's Daughter: Kim Edwards. Fantastic story about adult relationships, secrecy and the importance of love and family.
The Bible: Where loads of great, inspiring stories live. A text rich in history, and a hidden treasure trove of poetic inspiration!
The Twits / Matilda: Classic Roald Dahl magic at its best! My children rarely tire of his work and He has a seemingly unlimited capacity as a storyteller and humorist!
Vickie Johnstone: Travelling Light - An Independant Author like myself and an excellent poet and wordsmith!
