Born in '68, I grew up in the former GDR, in a village near Halle (Saale). After working in different branches, partly as a temp worker, I found my new home in Darmstadt, Hesse.
I'm early retired, but I sometimes earn a side income as an interpreter (German/English), and as a tutor.
What's the story behind your latest book?
The story behind my latest book ("Mirror Visions") is inspired by persons in real life: Among the acquaintances of me and my family, there are a few transgender persons and a couple of boy/girl twins (although I have no contact to each of them anymore). However, I asked myself: What would happen if a couple boy/girl twins exchanged roles the same way as the identical twins in other stories? And after I got that idea covered, I tried to make these twins and their struggles more "life-like" by separating them while they're in exchanged roles.
When did you first start writing?
I first started writing in 8th class. It was some short stories and free-verse poems which I no longer have (they got lost during moving out of my parents' home)
The twins John and Jennifer Webster look absolutely identical so that John often is confused for a girl, no matter where. So Jennifer gets the idea to exchange roles with him. But then a disaster happens while both are in exchanged roles, and John is forced to live as a girl, under the name Jona.
