Originally from New Mexico, Betsy considers herself to be an Okie-transplant after moving to Enid when she was 11. She currently lives with her husband in Guthrie, Oklahoma. She has a grown son, Bronson, step-daughter, Whitney and one grandchild, Cannon.
Betsy worked in radio broadcasting for several years in Oklahoma, Missouri, Texas and New Mexico before coming back to Oklahoma and attaining an A. A. S. in Journalism from Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa, where she wrote for the college paper, “The Maverick” and worked as the first female police officer for the city of Tonkawa.
Betsy served twelve years in the US Army Reserves as a Military Police officer and Drill Sergeant. During the same time period, she worked as a police officer, police sergeant and state trooper with the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety. She currently is the spokesperson for a large, Oklahoma law enforcement organization.
Betsy holds a B.S. Degree in Organizational Leadership from Southern Nazarene University, an A. S. in Horticulture from Oklahoma State University and is currently the President of the Logan County Master Gardeners and the Guthrie Forestry Advisory Board. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Victim’s Impact Panel of Oklahoma. Betsy is a "Life" member of the NRA and the DAV. She is a member of Bible Baptist Church and The American Legion - Post #58. Betsy enjoys, “digging in the dirt” and riding her Harley in her free time.
