Dick Bird

Biography

Author, British Army sergeant, independent farmer, ESL teacher, kayak instructor, Mexican tour guide.

I enjoy whitewater kayaking in Central America, and safari touring with beautiful women.

I've written four collections of short stories: The Road South, Concrete Dreams, Hog's Back, Next of Kin.

I have been published in Fiddlehead, Descant, Dalhousie Review, Wascana Review, New Orphic Review, Zygote, Matrix, Transversions, Canadian Fiction Magazine, West Coast Review, San Francisco Review.

The Road South is based partly on travel and kayaking adventures in Mexico and Central America and partly on dreams about that reality.
