Brent Anders

Biography

Brent A. Anders Ph.D., is a university lecturer and research at the American University of Armenia. He is also the director of the Sovorel Center for Teaching & Learning. He has a Doctorates degree in Education (focus was in Adult Learning and online instruction) from Kansas State University, a Masters degree from the University of Nebraska at Kearney (focus was in instructional technology), and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology (focus was in human-computer interactions/usability).

Anders does periodic speaking events and workshops internationally, has authored multiple educational books, writes research articles, blog posts (sovorelpublishing) and created educational video for his educational YouTube channel (Sovorel-EDU: www.youtube.com/@sovorel-EDU/videos) dealing with different aspects of instruction and educational technology (such as ChatGPT AI).

Anders has worked in higher education for over twenty-five years, concentrating on enhancing the educational experience for both instructors and students through the use of engaging media and online instruction. Anders has extensively worked as an educational media consultant (dealing with video production, student engagement, user experience, and instructional technology), as a university lecturer in professional communications, and as a course developer/instructional designer. Since the launch of the ChatGPT AI he has dedicated himself to helping everyone in academia better understand and use this technology to improve the educational experience for all. Helping all levels of academia develop AI Literacy is now a major focus of Anders' work.

Anders also served in the U.S. Army for 26 years, first as an airborne infantryman, then as a certified military instructor. Anders finished his military duty as a Sergeant Major, working as a U.S. Army National Guard international instructor assisting the Kansas State Partnership Program with the government of Armenia through the U.S. Embassy in Yerevan. These different experiences have allowed Anders to observe many different learning scenarios and factors dealing with higher education allowing him to identify different problematic issues and successful solutions.
