Brodie Sinclair

Biography

My passion for writing was triggered, not by a lifelong ambition but by a rather peculiar circumstance. I had been staying in the home of a friend who had recently inherited part of an art collection from his grandfather, from which he selected a painting as a parting gift. The canvas would have fitted neatly into my oversized suitcase, but my friend insisted that I also take the frame, which was a large elaborate affair. As I had a long flight back to the UK this necessitated careful packing and a fair bit of persuasion to stow the package behind the flight deck.
Once settled I began to ponder the significance of the frame and my friend's insistence. A disturbing possibility wormed its way into my imagination and inspired the writing of my first story, 'The Keepsake', which is included in a volume of short stories titled 'A Scent of Wild Thyme', due for publication in 2014. I am currently working on 'Endymion Legacy', a sequel to 'Endymion Intrigue', also for publication in 2014.

I have been actively involved in many things throughout my life including music, painting, sculpture and, on the academic side, psychology, from all of which I have derived immense satisfaction, but writing has become my passion which I hope I am able to convey to my readers.

The picture is not a portrait of the author! It is one of a series of six bronze operatic caricatures on which I have been working. I selected 'Lady Macbeth' as particularly appropriate as, in my story, Endymion Opera are performing Verdi's 'Macbeth', and one of the main characters is singing the role of Lady Macbeth.
