Smashwords Interview

What motivated you to become an indie author?
I wanted the freedom of being independent. I'm able to write the kind of stories that I want to write and choose the cover art that best represents my books, rather than trying to conform to a publisher's expectations about what might be most financially successful.

I'm very happy being indie! The technology changes in the last decade have revolutionized publishing and made indie publishing not just possible, but an attractive option, especially for writers who may write for a smaller niche. I love hearing from readers, and I suspect I might not have as direct a connection to readers if I were traditionally published. I manage my own website at cjbrightley.com - please come visit!
What are you working on next?
I'm working on the fourth book in my Christian fantasy / supernatural thriller series A Long-Forgotten Song. I'm also working on a fourth book in the Erdemen Honor series set in the same world much later in history, with all new characters, as well as a new fairy adventure-romance.
