LilyPad Princess
on July 13, 2011
I received this book through LibraryThings member reveiw program and very much enjoyed reading the story. The story is a twist on the classic fairy tale "The Frog Prince". There is a set of twins, a prince and a princess. The princess finds a frog with a crown the pond, and decides to kiss the frog to get her prince charming. What happens after the kiss is a tale of of what happens when we don't realize the effect our actions have on others.
I really enjoyed reading about the main characters and how responsible they were in trying to solve the problems that were occuring at the palace and how redaly a person was excepted even for being different. I would recommend this book for elementary readers and up.
Darkest Desire: The Wolf's Own Tale

Darkest Desires: The Wolf's Own Tale is the story of a Wolf who loves children and his enccounter with the Brothers Grimm. During the time spent with the Brothers Grimm the Wolf confesses to having an unnatrual desire of eating children, to this the Brothers Grimm convince the Wolf that they can cure him. I really enjoyed reading this book and getting a different idea on who the Brothers Grimm could actually be. The characters are well written and very believable in their thoughts and actions. I enjoyed learning the Wolf's perspective on how the fairy tales were possibly conceived.

Lia Weaver has lost her parents and is trying to follow the rules of her society, keep her brother and sister feed, and together. When finding a stranger in the woods that is injured and in need of help Lia takes him home to care for him. Struggling with the decision of what is right, following the rules that society puts down or helping somone in need. This was a very good book, you could empathize with Lia and her struggle to do what needed to be done to survive and grow.
