Caldon Mull

Caldon Mull has had a long publishing career in Technology, and various Game publications under different nom de plumes, and in his own name. He has travelled extensively throughout Africa and Central Asia, and has worked in Antarctica. In this time he has become a sous chef, a therapy counselor, a technician and an consultant for business and military sectors. When he is not currently working in a Technology field, he is usually writing Science Fiction and Fantasy, and looking to expand his Genre work into new directions. He is an unrepentant petrolhead with a weakness for Classic Italian Cars.

Smashwords Interview

What are you working on next?
2018 is busy. I have had to put my current workload for 'Talus' on hold as I have sold four of the five pieces in it and have to wait for the rights to revert back until it publishes. I have to polish up on the Novella stream as while it is not a popular medium, it is the one receiving all the attention at present, and I want to be ready for a number of commissions I'm expecting in the next few months. New Novel directions are on the cards for this year, so World-Building and research is consuming time and effort at present and that is exciting for me. I am expecting a lot of Genre-hopping in this year and next, from New Weird to Alternate History Steam-Punk, and back to hard SF in The Future History domain.
Sadly, 'All Eternity' has been scrapped pending a re-write from scratch. I guess every author has at least one of these, it breaks my heart but I'd rather do it than release it in its current (very expensive) state. Clean break, write-off the effort and begin again.
Who are your favorite authors?
Oh, this is going to run on for awhile. I must draw a line in the sand with my first two choices, being Gene Wolf and JRR Tolkien. After that is out of the way, my selections become much more muddied with Philip K. Dick, George R.R. Martin, Isaac Asimov and Anna Kavan in a group around the middle, and have to end my list in no particular order with Andre Norton, Ursula Le Guin, C.J. Cherryh and John Brunner.
They come and go, obviously, but those are the most persistent ones.
