In 1939 the pall of Nazi domination threatens Europe. A concert violinist is engulfed in the hysteria of pre-war propaganda. Conscripted into the Reichswere Panzers, he witnesses the fall of France, the Low Countries, and the tragedies of Stalingrad and Kursk on the Eastern Front. Emaciated and broken, he escapes a labor camp and embarks on a perilous journey only to find a shattered homeland.
