Fist of all, I very much enjoyed this book.and having picked it up, I couldn't put it down. It is at times funny, with what seem like genuine insights into the macabre comedy of the British Army soldier. But when the battle begins, the sheer harrowing detail is uncomfortable, as it should be. The battle of Mount Longdon was horrifying and this book portrays that very well. the book is detailed but also flows and is what I would describe as unputdownable. A cracking read.
